About Image Info / EXIF

EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) data is metadata embedded in photos by cameras and smartphones. This includes camera make/model, lens info, exposure settings (ISO, aperture, shutter speed), GPS coordinates, date/time taken, and more.

The EXIF viewer extracts and displays this metadata using JavaScript libraries that parse image binary data. Your photos never leave your browser, essential privacy for personal photos or sensitive location data.

Use this tool to verify photo details, recover shooting settings, check timestamps for organization, or inspect GPS coordinates. Note that many social media platforms strip EXIF data when you upload photos.

Frequently asked questions

Some formats (PNG, BMP) don't support EXIF. Social media sites often strip metadata for privacy. Photos edited in some apps may lose EXIF data. Try viewing the original unedited file.

Only if location services were enabled when the photo was taken and the EXIF data hasn't been stripped. iPhones and Android phones embed GPS coordinates by default (with permission).

Camera-generated data (settings, model) is accurate. GPS coordinates depend on device location accuracy. Timestamps use the camera's clock, which may be incorrect if not set properly.
